This year the Blackhawks are the only team without an RFA which will give them more time to focus on improving the roster with outside additions. Among the UFA list, Sean O'Donnell, Andrew Brunette, Brendan Morrison, Sami Lepisto and Cristobal Huet are all officially no longer under contract with the Blackhawks and will not return. I heard from a couple of sources late yesterday.
First, I would not expect a Niklas Hjalmarsson trade today, but that possibility is not off the table. The Hawks will make an attempt to land Ryan Suter on Sunday. If they succeed, Hjalmarsson will likely be dealt in short order.
That said, where until yesterday I felt the odds of the Hawks' geographical...
Among the plethora of respected sources that have spun the wheels on this rumor is Chris Kuc, Jesse Rogers, David Pagnotta, Rich Chere, and Michael Russo. Although the rumor has it that Chicago and New Jersey are the only candidates in the running, Russo reports that Minnesota is very much still in the mix and Pagnotta notes that the Penguins still have a legitimate shot at landing...
