NHL: (video) Panthers Zednik gets neck cut with hockey skate
Florida Panthers forward Richard Zednik was in stable condition last night after getting slashed in the neck by a teammates skate. Zednik underwent surgery to close the gash on the right side of his neck. "The surgery was successful and he's resting comfortably in the hospital," Panthers spokesman Brian Goldman said. Upon reaching the locker room, doctors attempted to stop the bleeding by applying pressure to Zednik's neck. So much pressure that Zednik complained they were hurting his neck. Dr. Leslie Bisson, team doctor of the Buffalo Sabres was seated in the fifth row and quickly left his seat to help after realizing what had occurred.
Richard Zednik suffers cut jugular in Buffalo
Harking back to memories of 1989, Buffalo once again witnessed the scariest injury in hockey as Richard Zednik suffered a cut jugular vein after being hit in the neck by falling teammate, Olli Jokinen on Sunday night. Players immediately waved for training personnel. As the trainers entered the ice, they waved for the stretcher, but it was not needed.

I know we all saw the highlights of the NHL player who took a skate to the jug-u-ler Monday night. Well that player, Richard Zednik of the Florida Panthers, is out of the ICU. Great ans speedy news figuering he sliced his carotid artery.
