Joe Sakic’s number went up to the rafters of the Ass Can last night, along with long-time teammate Ray Bourque and the dignified Patrick Roy. I didn’t watch it. VH1 was doing a three-hour long examination of one-hit wonders and the similarities between the Penguins and A-ha were too striking to click away from.

I posted this after Sakic's press conference that he will be retiring and, instead of a season preview, it is fitting that today's blog be about Joe.
