TEAMS: Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins
Steve Tambellini certainly isn't finished (this is not a playoff team) but it does look like the next move is some time in the distance. As opposed to the salary post of a few days ago (scroll down), I thought it might be an idea to list the roster in terms of depth at position. He scored 34 goals in the minors last year and has totals of 25 and 32 in previous AHL seasons.Minard isn't likely to make a dent at the...
Oilers Rookies and MacT: EV/60 points-per-game
One of the things most people never figured out about Craig MacTavish is how he handled rookies. Lost in the chorus of "he won't play Schremp but Petersen's on the PP!" was the fact that Craig MacTavish gave at-bats to a wide variety of rookies over the years. Many of them were not highly ranked draft picks and several have gone on to successful NHL careers. Today...

Relentless Incompetence
Nikolai Khabibulin introduces himself to the media. The clip on the Oilers site includes this:
Edmonton Oilers made such a big commitment. There weren’t too many opportunities with such a long term out there. It happened that the Oilers, when they made a commitment, we looked at it.
