Just a quick update to yesterday's post—Randy Jones has indeed been placed on waivers by the Flyers, so says Tim Panaccio of CSNPhilly.com. There's talk that the Rangers might be interested in him, but they too are up against the cap. We'll update the story when we find out whether Jones clears or is claimed.

Goalie Brian Boucher will miss 7-10 days with that infamous "lower body" injury that we suspect is a hip or groin.
GM Paul Holmgren said this afternoon that Jonas Backlund will be called up from the Phantoms to start the season with the Flyers as Ray Emery's backup.
