I wonder if the new general manager of the Minnesota Wild Chuck Fletcher is paying attention? This is the type of player Minnesota needs high end talent to replace the departing Marin Gaborik.
Dany Heatley wants out of Ottawa: Is there a fit here?According to ESPN's E. J. Hradek: "Ottawa GM Bryan Murray, who, according to those sources, has been notified of Heatley's desire for a change of scenery, is mulling his options. Murray could retool the Senators' roster by moving Heatley. Of course, any trading partner would have to have the budget room necessary to accommodate the remaining five years of Heatley's deal, which counts for $7.5 million against the cap. Heatley is thought to be interested in a move to the Western Conference."
If he can be lured out of Canada to the East, could the Rangers cobble a package anchored with Scott Gomez? Is Ottawa on Gomer's no-trade list? Assume Rangers would have to sweeten with prospect and a pick, right? [Newsday.com]

Dany Heatley fire storm.
When Wisconsin Badger Dany Heatley asked to be traded from the Senators started a **** fire storm. I found some interesting articles about this heat subject on line and it's not pretty folks. Today is a lucky day in Penguins history. They should only be so lucky tonight.
No lineup changes for Detroit tonight. They just demolished the Penguins, so no reason to change anything.

The Next in the Long Line of Great Oilers Wearing 15?
I read Jamie Gordon’s piece on Dany Heatley at the recommendation of David Staples. I am something less than impressed. Per Gordon:
It isn’t shocking because Heatley’s actions and attitude this season belied assertions that he enjoyed the pressure that rained down from the 19,153 fans who normally fill Scotiabank Place to capacity and [...]
Heatley Wants Out
TSN is reporting that Ottawa Senator Dany Heatley has informed the team that he no longer wants to play in the nation’s capital. Heatley signed a long term deal in the fall of 2007, which may make it somewhat difficult to sign the left-winger due to his $7.5 million dollar cap hit.

Heatley Wants Out Of Ottawa
((HT: TSN))Despite only being one year into his contract extension with the Ottawa Senators, Dany Heatley wants out. TSN has confirmed that the 28-year old who signed a six-year, $45 million contract extension with the team in October of 2007 - that includes a no-movement clause - informed the team a week ago of his desire to play hockey elsewhere. The veteran forward became unhappy...

In the Heat of the Night
This is a scene from a terrific movie, In the Heat of the Night. Rod Steiger ("what do they call you up in Philadelphia?") and Sidney Poitier ("they call me Mister Tibbs") could be from different planets (watch the movie, it's still a very good film these many years later).Since the trade that brought Chris Pronger to Edmonton and the bookend deal that sent...
