Hurricanes trainer Pete Friesen will host his annual preseason 5K run around the RBC Center on Aug. 30. This is the fourth running of the event, which has raised more than $75,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Eastern N.C. Canes players and coaches have traditionally participated, and many will again this year even after what happened to Rod Brind'Amour last year. Brind'Amour tore cartilage in his knee while running the event, which kept him on the shelf during training camp and contributed to his slow start to the season.
