A statistical comparison of the development of Marc-Andre Fleury to some of the other premier goalies in the NHL. Despite his inconsistency so far this season, Fleury is still way ahead of the learning curve for an NHL netminder, and the Pens need to stick with him.
Penguins Look to Outrun Avalanche
The Pittsburgh Penguins (6-4-1) head into game 2 of a 4-game road trip on Thursday night with a stop in Denver to take on the streaking Colorado Avalanche (7-4-0). After notching a win against a depleted Wild on Tuesday, the Penguins will be looking to capitalize off the momentum gained in Minnesota to win their 2nd straight game and their 4th straight road game. The Pittsburgh Penguins lost a hard fought battle against the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night, despite taking a 2-0 lead after the first period on a pair of goals by Sidney Crosby. Babcock's Hunch Might Win A Bunch, After All
The other day, I was thinking about some of the most exhilarating and most disappointing playoff series in Detroit sports history. I did the Pistons and the Red Wings in my scattered brain. Obviously, the '87 conference finals -- Pistons/Celtics -- is right up there in the disappointing category, for it was the series of Isiah's "pass" to Larry Bird.
Anyhow, I rattled...
A Character Win, But Haphazardly Done
A spirited debate sprang up among some friends about the Capitals' netminder. One vociferously denounced Jose Theodore as the team's Achilles' Heel; another strongly defended Theodore and pointed to defensive breakdowns and bad bounces/deflections.If forced to endorse one of the two opinions above, I'd lean toward the latter... Theodore, known to be a streaky goaltender throughout...
The fighters give the Caps momentum in Nashville
The Caps won a hard fought game in Nashville against the Predators to get a rare win against a Western conference team. The first period between these teams erupted with two fights. The first one ended with watching Donald Brashear crumple to the ice after getting decked by Wade Belak. Brashear is one of the top fighters in the NHL and I've never seen him go down by like before...

and thats funny because being a sports fan I always have this drastically overrated opinion of how the littlest things someone does effects the game. which terrible towel i have while watching a steelers game, or wearing the Penguins t-shirt from 2 when they won back-to-back cups.
so anyways, here I was thinking I jinxed the game by going to get my hat (anticipating the 87 hat trick), but it turns out you must have done us in by turning off the game.
