New Jersey Devils have won eight in-a-row and are the hottest team in the league. Depsite that, GM Lou Lamoriello is still looking to make a move and Devils veteran forward Brian Gionta is rumored to be one of the players on the trading block.

  • bad move unless they get some real quality talent for him. He is one of those guys who does the little things, but does them really well. I mean, the guy hits hard, he's a cerebral player for the most part, and he's just flat out fun to watch. They are better off keeping him unless they get someone truly worthy of taking his place.

Duke or UNC?

ESPN hasn't started beating us over the head with this debate yet (give it a week), so I thought I'd get a head start, if from a slightly different perspective.Pomeroy currently has Duke as 3.3 points better, but I think that's a tough argument to make. Here are the spreads on each of the Blue Devils' ACC games, along with what the current Pomeroy rating predicts...

D*ke hammers Virginia

As predicted, the Blue Devils blasted the Hoos. Since the game followed a familiar script, I’ll spare you all of any alleged analysis. Silver lining alert: Sylen Landesberg and Mike Scott were the only Hoos to score in double-digits, which is a hopefull sign for some day.

Trivia question, also related to the Detroit Tigers?

Will asked: I am disgusted with the Tigers! I think I **** this year?s team more than the Tiger teams that only managed 50 wins a year! How does a team that was basically picked by everyone to win the World Series not even make the playoffs? Hell for that matter not even be at [...]

The Peacock Shows All Its Feathers

There’s a reason why the big networks telecast the Super Bowl every year. Because for all the times they get slammed by the bloggers for the (mainly) minor mistakes they make during the regular season, they more than make up for them during the big game. Of course it helps when you have a compelling game [...]

What Do You Think John Madden Smells Like?

I usually think that most Late Night talk show gimmicks are pretty lame (especially if it's on Leno), but this one was rather hilarious. David Letterman sent Biff Henderson to the Super Bowl, and decided to have the show's stage manager ask people what John Madden smelled like in the morning. But it didn't stop there! Look for a cameo from everyone's favorite announcer, Marv Albert...

JOHN MADDEN’S SCENT: ‘SALTINES AND GARLIC’

David Letterman sent Biff Henderson to be a Late Night correspondent at the Super Bowl.  There’s some good stuff here, especially the appearances by Jesse Jacksonand Marv Albert — although nothing is quite as satisfying as Biff swearing at a Steelers fan who interrupts an interview. ...

Numbers Game: “Shoot the Puck!”

Shoot the puck - One of the oldest adages in the game; coaches preach it, some players follow it (see Alexander Ovechkin, Jeff Carter), while others seem to painfully adverse to it (see Tomas Kaberle).  The 18,000+ “qualified” coaches that attend the NHL games (with obvious notable exceptions in ...
