Just a reminder that the Canes will hold its annual Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness game tomorrow night against the Florida Panthers.
The "Siren Sounder" before the game will be Julie Walker, the wife of Canes' forward Scott Walker, and their children, Cooper and Anna. Julie Walker was diagnosed with cervical cancer this year but has had successful surgery and is recovering.
Singing the national anthem will be uterine cancer survivor Brenda Leek will sing the national anthem. Lymphoma survivor and Raleigh Youth Hockey Association member Connor Johnson will be the Time Warner Cable “Starter of the Game.”
During the game, Pete Friesen, the Hurricanes' head athletic trainer and strength and conditioning coach, will present a check
from the Friesen 5k to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Hurricanes center
Eric Staal will host children cancer patients from the UNCCancerCenter in his suite as a part of his charitable initiative, “Eric’s
