Defenseman Joni Pitkanen did not travel with the Canes to Tampa and will miss his second straight game.
Pitkanen played Tuesday in the Canes' 2-1 shootout victory over the Lightning and assisted on Jussi Jokinen's goal. He did not play in the third period after experiencing stiffness and soreness in his knee, and sat out last night's game against Florida.

Defenseman Joni Pitkanen is not at the Canes' practice today at the RBC Center.
Pitkanen played his first game Tuesday against Tampa Bay but left after the second period. Canes coach Paul Maurice said after the 2-1 shootout win that Pitkanen, who had knee surgery Sept. 10 and missed training camp, did not re-injure the knee.

Tom Kostopoulos' first goal as a Cane gave Carolina a 1-0 lead and Tuomo Ruutu has added a second for a 2-0 cushion in the first period.
