by Adam GretzFiled under: Bruins, NHL Fans, NHL VideosFanHouse's Adam Gretz takes a look at his top 50 players in the NHL. No. 24 is Boston Bruins forward Marc Savard. In perfect 20/20 hindsight, the New York Rangers and Calgary Flames might regret their decisions to trade Marc Savard. One of the players at the forefront of the Boston Bruins' return to relevance the past two years, Savard was traded twice early in his career for what turned out to be (again, in hindsight) underwhelming returns. On June 26, 1999, the Rangers, the team that drafted Savard in 1995, sent him and a first-round pick to the Calgary Flames for Jan Hlavac, a first-round pick (Jamie Lundmark) and a third-round pick. As bad as that might look now, that's still more than Calgary received for him when the Flames sent Savard to Atlanta four years later.

No Progress Between Kessel and Bruins
Sounds like more of the same, nothing new to report and the Bruins are no closer to a deal with their RFA Phil Kessel. I think the Bruins should move on the deal that sends Marco Sturm to the Islanders, that could probably land the Bruins a prospect or a draft choice, which could free up some cap space to get Kessel signed to a deal. I spoke to Phil Kessel’s agent, Wade Arnott...
Bruins Remain Strong in Northeast Division
August has now arrived, meaning the National Hockey League is one month into the season of free agency. After a few thrilling days full of movement at the beginning, teams began to slow down drastically in the final weeks of July. Teams such as the Boston Bruins are on the verge of being finished with free agency, while other clubs are waiting for certain players to drop their price...
Nothing New On Kessel
from James Murphy of NESN,
I spoke to Phil Kessel’s agent, Wade Arnott, on the ride up Thursday night and got the latest on Kessel and his contract negotiations with the Bruins.
“Nothing really new to update,” Arnott said. “I wish I had some new news for you, but there’s really nothing major to report.”…
nterestingly, unlike many, Arnott said that he and...
Clawing their way in
During the first two years of Claude Julien’s stewardship of the bench, the Bruins have been receptive to bringing young players onto the roster. In 2008-09, Blake Wheeler made the big club out of training camp, while Matt Hunwick and Byron Bitz started the season in Providence and finished it in Boston.
