Following the departure of backup goaltender Mathieu Garon, general manager Ray Shero went out and found one of the best available free agent goaltenders, Brent Johnson. The 32 year old netminder played in 21 games last season for the Washington Capitals, going 12-6-2 with a 2.81 goals against average and a .908 save percentage before hip surgery ended his year.
