Ray Shero believes that it is a worth wild idea to stock pile at least 10 defensemen that can play meaningful minutes in the NHL if called upon to do so. He doesn't always need to go to that cupboard, but when he does, it is nice to know that it is stocked.
It is even better to come to that realization when when he loses someone like Sergei Gonchar to a semi-long term injury...
