I'll be watching Martin Skoula make his Penguin debut with a friend instead of here at home. I don't know if I'll be able to recap the game or not. (Watching games with friends can make it difficult to take notes!)Just an FYI: I'm working on a few things for The Show. I've got about a million fan photos (some from last season and some from this season) that I want to share, a couple more Musings from Mad Max, and a few other goodies. I realize I haven't been doing a good job keep things current on TSCS, but there's a reason my focus has been less than 100%... I'll reveal it tomorrow evening. :)GO PENS!!!!!!!!!!!

Wild are the faster draw, win Shootout.

In Mikko Koivu’s first game as the official permanent  captain of the Wild he lead the team to their two goals and shootout victory. In the first period it was Koivu’sshot that produced a nice rebound for Burns to flip it home. In the 3rd period scored a goal and another power play chance and then had [...]

Benny the Beast

I attended Wednesday's shootout victory over the Colorado Avalanche and came away impressed with the play of Wild forward Benoit Pouliot. Outside of players named Mikko and Brent, #67 was the best Wild player on the ice. He was a presence in the offensive zone and often seemed to make the correct decision with the puck. If his play keeps up like this, he should be a regular on...

THIS MAKES ME WANT TO WATCH HOCKEY

Big ups to Terry for sending in this online ad of an upcoming Chicago Blackhawks-Minnesota Wild game, inspired by the new film, Where The Wild Things Are. My favorite part is when the guy in the suit was beaten into oppression by whoever that guy was. Is he a real Blackhawk? Is he in the [...]

Smith, Hilbert Assigned To Houston

Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned forwards Andy Hilbert and Nathan Smith to the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL). Hilbert, 28 (2/6/81), posted two...

Wild 3, Canes 2 (OT)

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Cal Clutterbuck's goal with 3:05 left in overtime gave the Minnesota Wild a 3-2 victory Saturday at the Xcel Energy Center. Clutterbuck was sprawled on the ice in the slot, but reached out his stick to knock the puck past Cam Ward and keep the Hurricanes winless on the road this season. The Canes appeared victory-bound with three minutes left in the third...

The recipe for beating a defensive hockey team.

I found this article in the Cornell Sun and I think this is a recipe for a really boring brand of hockey. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to watch this crap. Just ask Minnesota Wild Fans, we have finally been freed of this mentality. Maybe this is why the Cornell coaching staff wants to get away from this type of hockey. This conservative team scheme that Cornell plays was exposed...

Clutterbuck goal in OT lifts Wild past Hurricanes

Cal Clutterbuck scored 1:55 into overtime and the Minnesota Wild beat the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 Saturday night.

Brian Metzer: Two-Headed Monster Brings Penguins Back... Win 3-2 in Shootout...

Updates at the Bottom: The Penguins hit the ice for the first time without injured defenseman Sergei Gonchar this evening against the Florida Panthers. It will be the first time we see Martin Skoula in action and it will be interesting to see how he, and the rest of the defense responds. Even if he meshes well with partner Jay McKee, there is always a little bit of an adjustment...

Carolina Hurricanes (2-5-2) at Minnesota Wild (2-7-0), 8 p.m.

The Minnesota Wild hope a return home tonight can shake them out of their current funk, as they welcome the Carolina Hurricanes to Xcel Energy Center.

Minnesota Wild (2-6-0) at St. Louis Blues (3-3-1), 8 p.m.

While the Minnesota Wild have yet to win on the road this season, the St. Louis Blues have more wins in Europe than they do in North America.
