If you're an NHL free agent, would you like to join Alexander Ovechkin, Alexander Semin, rookie Nicklas Backstrom and others on a playoff-experienced team? Good, because they've got $11M in cap room to spend.

  • Oh, by the way, be careful when you're handing Mr. Ovechkin his MVP trophy. He doesn't want any marks on it.
  • Yes sir. I'll be extra careful. Unfortunately he cannot cement his rise to the top unless he leads them to the Eastern Finals and knocks out Sidney Crosby.
  • I wouldn't say complete cause like you said they have 11 million just sitting around and to be complete you have to win it all. Time will tell though.

Minnesota Wild 2008 Playoff Predictions

After clinching the Northwest division with 98 points the MN Wild will open the 2008 playoffs as the #3 seed. The Wild will face off against a familiar rival the #5 seeded Colorado Avalanche. After breaking down the the other 3 Western Conf. matchups I will make this prediction - The Wild will play in the Conference Finals. Here's how:

Flyers first round opponent yet to be decided

After yesterday's win, the Flyers know they will be in the playoffs, but on the eve of their final game against the Penguins, they still don't know who they will be playing in the first round. The Flyers can finish in either the 6th or 8th seed, so they have two possible playoff opponents: Pittsburgh or Washington.

If the season were to end today, the Flyers would not be a playoff participant. The Washington Capitals defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-1 to move past the Flyers and into the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference. The Flyers find themselves one point behind the Capitals, although they do have a game in hand. To make matters worse, a team the Flyers had a chance of catching, the Ottawa...
