RED WINGS 4PENGUINS 0Remember Mikael Samuelsson playing for the Penguins? Me neither. But he played 22 games in a very forgettable 2002-03 Penguins campaign, scoring as many goals (two) as he scored in Game One of the 2008 Stanley Cup Finals. Somehow, I think he name will not be forgotten by Penguin fans anytime in the near future.Samuelsson was involved in two high-profile Penguins trades. He arrived on February 10, 2003, as part of the pu-pu platter from the New York Rangers in exchange for Alexei Kovalev, Janne Laukkanen, Dan LaCouture and Mike Wilson. What else was on that platter? Rico Fata, Joel Bouchard, and Richard Lintner. Needless to say, this Samuelsson trade was not as memorable for Craig Patrick as the Ulf Samuelsson deal in 1991. After that goal-every-11-games average, Patrick sent Samuelsson, the Penguins' 2003 1st Round Choice (3rd overall, eventually Nathan Horton), and the Pens' 2003 2nd round compensatory pick (Stefan Meyer) to Florida for the Panthers'...

Lessons They Need to Learn
There are days when we get to remember why they call them prospects and
Sunday was one of those days. 3 Ranger prospects were in action and all
wound up losing games that in all honesty they should not have lost.Del Zotto's London Knights lost in overtime 5-4, Grachev's Brampton Battalion got spanked 6-2 and Dowzak's Kelowna Rockets lost in OT 4-3
Rangers Up 2-0 vs. Caps
I’m not sure what’s going on here. I’m a little confused. Are these the same New York Rangers I’ve watched all year? Is that really Wade Redden, the poster boy for nightmarish free agent contracts, and Michal Rozsival looking like a top-notch #1 defensive pair, stopping the high-powered Capitals offense? Is that really Markus Naslund [...]
Ooh la la SASSON!!
You may have seen these already, but I found them too funny not to post here on the Deuce. These are a couple of videos of some New York Rangers in the 80s finding themselves selling Sasson jeans. The limits some people go to make a dollar amaze me...oh right, I know we're not much better with this ...
Caps Beat Rangers, Despite Our Great Expectations
The Washington Capitals defeated the New York Rangers in convincing fashion last night, extending a series that shouldn’t have never reached do-or-die status for Ovechkin and Co., and staving off a local scorn that would’ve surely been undeserved.
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves - no local team with a couple of playoff wins in a [...]
1937: Detroit Wins Cup With Minor League Goalie
The year is 1937. The Detroit Red Wings are attempting to defend their Stanley Cup championship against the New York Rangers.
There is only one problem. Star goalie Normie Smith badly injures his elbow, marking the downward spiral of his career. Smith, like for four of his teammates, is unable to co...
I Spy...Ovechkin!
Alexander Ovechkin was caught watching the New York Rangers' practice today and asked to leave the premises. That the best player in the world is resorting to spying should tell you a lot.
