Ottawa Senators coach Cory Clouston isn't prepared to strip Dany Heatley of his assistant captaincy, nor has he gained insight on Heatley's request for a trade and discontent with the franchise from Heatley's recent comments.
Heatley went public with his problems with the Senators in a conference call Friday. In it he said his diminished role in Ottawa led to the trade demand.
In that call, Heatley said:
"When I signed in Ottawa two years ago, I felt it was to be an integral part of the team. Over the last two years and more recently over the past year, I feel my role was diminished. This past season, it diminished a lot more.
"I'm a player who can play in a lot of different situations. I don't feel I was given that role on the team.
"I'd like the opportunity to go somewhere where I can play to the best of my capabilities and be the player I can be."
Most of his problems...

Horcoff No Fan of Heatley Trade Saga
by Susan SlusserFiled under: Oilers, FanHouse ExclusiveEdmonton was the one club that tried hard to swing a deal to land Ottawa's disgruntled Dany Heatley. Just A Quick Hit…
My source has let me know that Heatley to the Rangers is still a very real possibility. Apparently things with Dubinsky are not progressing well at all.
I dont know what to make of that because it would be really hard to trade Dubi for another winger…almost doesn’t make sense unless you feel comfortable with Prospal at center, which I am kinda iffy on. Still though...
Jan Levine: Rangers - Heatley - Part 3,322 and Kessel
As Ek wrote this week, the best - and possible only remaining destination option - for Dany Heatley may be the Rangers. It looks like when all else fails, the default option for Heatley and several others is the Broadway Blues.
This saga has been playing out for months, but my question in this blog is not solely do the Rangers' fans want him but does any team's fans want...

Can’t You Remember?
With each passing day, I think I better understand just why Dany Heatley stayed silent for so long. It’s cause every time he opens his mouth, he appears worse and worse.
