Howdy from an actual sunny nation's capital. Still can't believe good ol' Canadian girl Jillian picked Ed... Looks like Murray and Co. have picked Afinogenov as a potential linemate for Kovalev. No word on how close a deal is, but it's down to Ottawa, Washington and Nashville. Normally I wouldn't give us a chance in hell but with Kovy I think we have a better shot than Nashville. Of course Maxim and his agent should be looking at a short-term deal for the 29-year old forward as he needs to prove he is still a 60-70 point guy in the NHL...with the hope he lands one more big contract.   Here is a look at Maxim Afinogenov over the last three seasons...160 games, 39 goals, 70 assists for 109 points and a -4 rating. He is proven to be effective on the PP and uses his speed very well.
