Howdy from an actual sunny nation's capital. Still can't believe good ol' Canadian girl Jillian picked Ed...
Looks like Murray and Co. have picked Afinogenov as a potential linemate for Kovalev. No word on how close a deal is, but it's down to Ottawa, Washington and Nashville. Normally I wouldn't give us a chance in hell but with Kovy I think we have a better shot than Nashville. Of course Maxim and his agent should be looking at a short-term deal for the 29-year old forward as he needs to prove he is still a 60-70 point guy in the NHL...with the hope he lands one more big contract.
Here is a look at Maxim Afinogenov over the last three seasons...160 games, 39 goals, 70 assists for 109 points and a -4 rating. He is proven to be effective on the PP and uses his speed very well. He is much better defensivly then most give credit for, but his downside is his inability to stay healthy and to get involved physically.
