Sidney Crosby is arguably the best player in the NHL and should be for years to come. So the Pittsburgh Penguins would surely be crazy for thinking of trading the young superstar. Or would they? Could the Penguins actually improve their chances of capturing Lord Stanley's Cup by trading away the NHL's shining star? It's not as crazy of a thought as you might think.

  • you better hope they win the title if they trade him because they won't be selling any tickets otherwise

Crosby is going to make the owners more money than any combo of players they get back
  • IF THEY WERE TO GET RID OF SIDNEY CROSBY THE PITTSBURGH PENGUINS WITH HAVE TO GO BACK TO TIMBITS HOCKEY AND I AM A LEAFS FAN BUT I LIKE PITTSBURGH. WHO EVER MADE THIS SITE IS A LOSER AND HE DOESNT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS GAME
  • I applaud Chris for taking this angle...it doesn't mean it will happen but the scenarios itself are interesting to say the least.
  • yeah, i agree this is really isn't even a possibility, but just exploring the theoretical situation is actually quite entertaining.
  • I'm a Flyers fan. Even though I can't stand him, I would be lying if I said that I didn't want Sid the Kid on my team.
  • YOU MUST BE OUT BE OF YOUR MIND TO TRADE CROSBY,JUST LIKE THEY GOT RID OF JAGAR.THAT WAS STUPID.MAGINE CROSBY ,JAGAR,LEMIEUX ON THE SAME LINE.THAT IS JUST NOT FAIR.OH I FORGOT ABOUT MALIKIN TO.IF WE HAD BRODOUR WE WOULD BE UNSTOPPABLE.STANLEY CUP GURRANTEED.
  • To trade Sidney Crosby would be one of the biggest mistakes the Penguins may ever make. I'll admit they came close with jagar, but Crosby is their ticket seller....the stanley cup would be nothing without the fans they have with Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.
Sidney Crosby is a natural at what he does and to have a guy with a career as good as his at age 20 is amazing...they have to keep him...cuz if they don't they'll be very disappointed with what they get out of it.
  • 1st off Jagr was a whiney bitch. Penguins got what they needed out of him and now they don't need that kind of negativity on an up and coming team. As far as even trading Crosby, why would someone even post a comment like that. He's a francise player like Lemieux and you'll never see Crosby ever leave or be traded from the Penguins.
  • It's an interesting concept. If you look at reality though; with the recent singing of Staal, the current contracts of Malkin, Crosby, and Flury, there is a little over what about 14MM with the salery cap to sign the other 12 members. Based on this I think it's fairly obvious SOMEONE has to go.......Personally I think Malkin will be on the block next year.
