from Tony Lofaro and Brendan Kennedy of the Ottawa Citizen, Jennifer Snell pulled up in a vintage 1957 Rolls Royce Saturday at Notre Dame Basilica as her husband-to-be, Ottawa Senators centre Jason Spezza, and hundreds of guests waited inside. But when told by the wedding planner that some of the wedding guests were still entering the church, the Rolls driver took Snell for a ride around the block, returning a few minutes later. Then, Snell was accompanied inside the church by her father, Douglas. The 45-minute ceremony was closed to the media and public, but many of Spezza’s teammates, including Chris Neil, Chris Phillips, and Anton Volchenkov, were there. Senators owner Eugene Melynk was also on hand, as was hockey legend Bobby Orr, and Catherine Clark… Missing from the ceremony were teammates Daniel Alfredsson, Mike Fisher and Senators general manager Bryan Murray. And, for the record, Dany Heatley was a no-show. read on (pics too) & thanks to a KK reader for the pointer…

Blog Hits: Things you should and shouldn’t do if you are attending Jason Spezza’s wedding

Some news and notes from the Blogs today: Down Goes Brown:  Etiquette tips for the Jason Spezza wedding.  Hilarious list. Blueshirt Banter:  Should the Rangers make a play for Kessel?  Why not?  Rangers love going for players developed by other teams.  That being said, Kessel is an explosive player who scores, so really any team that gets [...]

Etiquette tips for the Jason Spezza wedding

The happy couple. The big talk in Ottawa this week has been about the Jason Spezza wedding, and the question of how the media should handle an appearance by Dany Heatley. Local media debated the delicate question of whether it was appropriate to use the occasion to ask Heatley about his trade demands. That question is moot now, since Heatley has decided not to show up. But the wedding...

Oilers shouldn't be hot for Heatley

Get up off your knees, Edmonton. Dany Heatley isn't worth the groveling just to get him in an Oilers uniform, Larry Brooks says.

Afternoon Delight: Tickle Trunk

The Universal Cynic notes that Dany Heatley will not grace Jason Spezza’s wedding this weekend. This is obviously Spezza’s fault. He didn’t fly out to Kelowna to meet Heatley and he didn’t send him a video telling Dany how awesome the wedding would be. I wouldn’t go either. A Q and A with Lightning GM Brian [...]

Searching for Mike Fisher

If the Ottawa Senators are going to return to the form that had pundits labelling them bona fide Cup contenders they are going to need more from Mike Fisher.  Now, before the legions of Fisher fans out there jump down my throat screaming that Fisher is the heart and soul of the Senators and the team's captain-in-waiting, take a breath.  Mike Fisher is a good hockey...

HD Summer Thoughts

Although there is minimal NHL news on the radar these days, aside from reports from Jason Spezza’s wedding in Ottawa, I still do have a few thoughts to pass on: From the “what the $#%& is happening here?” category, was Gord Miller actually calling a Saturday afternoon CFL on TSN game between the Riders and Eskies [...]

Oh Dany (Heatley) Boy

Alexei Yashin. That's the first thing that entered my mind when the new broke that Dany Heatley is seeking a trade from the Ottawa Senators. For those who have forgotten, Yashin held out for a new contract not once, not twice, but three times before the Senators were finally able...
