A little bit of sandpaper out on the ice, I think, might have helped the zone clearing cause during those 90-some-odd seconds that seemed like 90 minutes when five Capitals' skaters were powerless in the third period, clinging to a one-goal lead, to clear the puck from their end against New Jersey Monday night. The shift that ended up -- and didn't you just know it was coming! -- resulting in the game-tying goal. a lot to laich
Hockey fans have come to expect greatness from Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin. So it’s not exactly newsworthy when he’s atop the NHL leader board for points.
But when Caps forward Brooks Laich ranks in the top 20 in scoring … well … that’s a different story. We caught up with the popular [...]
Caps...the details matter
Ugh. The Caps don't look like a team with high aspirations for the post season, so far. They started out on fire, while I worked my tail off in Las Vegas and couldn't watch. Caps started out with a 4-1 victory over Boston and 6-4 win over Toronto which wasn't as close as it sounds. Tonight, they blew it against the New Jersey Devils and lost in a 3-2 shootout.Some...

Caps again blow lead in third
The biggest problem for the Washington Capitals isn't that they have returned to their dressing room smarting from a loss in four straight contests. RED ALERT: Caps in a funk - Afternoon Edition
Three things are clearly overriding problems of this 4 game skid. First, the Capitals are not converting the power play like they did last season. During the 4 game losing streak are a dismal 3-22 (.136) on the power play. Last year the Caps were 2nd overall in the NHL, over 25% conversion on the PP.
