The Boston Bruins are back! On Saturday morning, the 2009-10 version of the club checked into Boston for the off-ice testing portion of training camp, in preparation for their on-ice workouts. The on-ice work begins on Sunday, as the Bruins will be broken up into two separate groups. The first set of players will hit the ice at 10:00, followed by group two at 12:30. All of Sunday's action takes place at the TD Garden. This season's training camp has a group of 54 different players participating. There are 31 forwards, 16 defensemen, and seven goaltenders. In a matter of a little more than two weeks, that number will be down to somewhere between 21 and 23, as the 2009-10 NHL team will be in place for opening night on October 1st against the Washington Capitals. Approximately 20 of the remaining 31-33 players will make their way to Providence at some point during the next few weeks, as they will prepare for an AHL season with the Providence Bruins. Left or right, Wheeler will wing it
Last year, when his best shot at breaking camp with the big club was skating on the left side for the first time in his career, Blake Wheeler , naturally, voiced no reservations about the switch. This season, the second-year NHLer doesn’t have to worry about big-league employment. But a flip back to the right side might be coming for ...
Kiss Kessel goodbye
Just hours before the Bruins skated yesterday at the Garden for their first bona fide training camp workout, the ever-active rumor mill in Toronto had the Maple Leafs tabling the best offer yet for Boston free agent Phil Kessel. To wit: for a pair of first-round picks and one second-round pick, Boston general manager Peter Chiarelli could be free at ...
Nightly Hockey Hits: Six Landing Spots for Phil Kessel, Gaborik does not skate at opening day of training camp, Cheechoo determined to show Ottawa that they didn’t make a wrong choice!
With all the insantiy of the Heatley trade we get some reaction from the other players involved in the trade, Kessel is now the most coveted free agent and there are apparently 6 places he could go, a recap of the Coyotes drama and it appears that Gaborik isn't skating today. Predators talking Kessel deal with Bruins
What's the last significant name the Nashville Predators added to their roster via trade or free agency? Paul Kariya(notes)? Peter Forsberg(notes)? The Tennessean reports that they're in for Boston Bruins RFA Phil Kessel(notes), which makes a ton of sense but remains a little stunning considering the suitor: Predators General Manager David Poile confirmed as much on Friday...
Five Bruins Poised For Breakout Seasons
Isn’t it hard to believe that the Boston Bruins are a legitimate Stanley Cup contender? Granted, this team has yet to make it beyond the Eastern Conference Semifinals, but the devastatingly upsetting way that last season ended gave B’s fans a look of what was to come, and what was in the B’s future. With [...]
Boston Bruins 2009-10 Fantasy Hockey Preview
We are now less than a month away from the start of the 2009-10 NHL regular season, and I think it's a great time to start publishing my fantasy preview articles for each NHL team.
When looking at a player and predicting how he will fare offensively this season, there are a many things to consider. Is the player at an age where he will improve or decline? Is he playing with new...
Bergeron is totally into it
The way Mark Recchi recalls the goal, he was somewhere between the play, backtracking into the neutral zone to stave off the Montreal attack, but also keeping a presence on the forecheck to sustain offensive pressure. It was April 9. Bruins vs. Canadiens. The third-to-last game of the regular season. Overtime.
Recchi rolls with roles
WILMINGTON - Despite the shortcomings in Phil Kessel’s game, flaws reflected in management’s hesitation to break the bank for the sniper, there is no denying he is the organization’s most dangerous goal scorer. So as both player and franchise prepare for the wing’s eventual departure, be it via trade or offer sheet, the task for the Bruins is to find ...

Jesse Connolly: Have You Had Your Phil of the Thrill?
MySpace Countdowns
Face it, there's nowhere left to hide. No matter how far you run, or how large of a rock you discover to seek shelter under, Phil Kessel will find you. Phil Kessel will crawl inside your brain. Phil Kessel will leave you curled up in the fetal position in the corner of a windowless room, shouting things to yourself like....
"Phil wouldn't publicly...
