Washington Times:
RALEIGH, N.C. | The Washington Capitals are facing a new threat in the battle to re-sign several of their key players - an upstart Russian league hungry for NHL talent. Meanwhile, two others reportedly have been in talks with KHL franchises. In the past two days, French-language sports network RDS has reported Kozlov's deal with Ufa as well as a two-year, $7.6 million offer to Sergei Fedorov ...

I Took a Mistress This Holiday Weekend -- Her Name Is Golf
Golf is an acquired taste, hobby, passion, obsession, devotion. I acquired it early in life, when my Uncle Mike sawed down an adult set of irons for me and wrapped genuine leather grips on them before my 8th birthday. Gifts of passion are always the best kind. My high school boasted a 9-hole course that wrapped around campus in charming and dramatic slopes and hills. I played 1,000...

The playoff beard has long been a cherished part of hockey culture.
Whether the beards transform players into mountain men (such as Mike
Commodore's classic mane) or just wispy-scruffed teens, ditching the razor is a terrific tradition that players and fans alike embrace with relish. In fact, the Washington Capitals' recent Beard-A-Thon raised an impressive $42k for charity...

Puck Newbies and Their First Viewing of 'Slapshot'
Early last autumn I chronicled the story of two young transplants to D.C. from hockey-indifferent origins who got swept up in Red Fever, and purchased a ticket plan for the Caps in 2008-09. More good news concerning that pleasant young couple John and Victoria: their puck disciple-dom progresses -- recently they went to a local movie theater to see 'Slapshot' for the first time....
Caps, NHL See Red Over Steroids Allegation
The National Hockey League and the Washington Capitals today issued reactions to an uncorroborated allegation of steroids purchasing by members of the team, which first appeared in the Tampa Tribune yesterday. The frequency with which Capitals' players have been tested for banned substances as part of the new CBA ought to be instructive in assessing the merits of this matter. We...

A major drug bust took place in Central Florida and the main source, Richard Thomas, implicated the Washington Nationals as having players amongst his clients.
