The defending Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings have had a strong playoff year thus far and look to be unbeatable. There does not seem to be any kinks in the red armor they done on their chests. The Chicago Blackhawks would not have an argument with that after they lost the opening game of their Western Conference Final series 5-2 on Sunday afternoon. Detroit seems to be chugging along through the playoffs. Is there anything that can get in their way to stop them from capturing yet another Stanley Cup?Chicago has got to be scratching their heads going into Game 2. The Hawks did a good job shutting down top-liners Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Holmstrom in Game 1, but they still saw the likes of Johan Franzen, Henrik Zetterberg and Dan Cleary play big roles in the win. This is the strength of the Detroit Red Wings; production from everyone on the squad. If Pavel Datsyuk has a bad game, the team looks to the second line to produce, which they usually answer favorably. Datsyuk h...

Wings Win Series Two Games to None
Or so the media would have you think. I don’t know how many times I heard it since just last night: “This series is over.” Without ever playing a game in Chicago? Maybe so, but I think these Hawks will have something to say about it.
How after two games that were 2-2 in the third [...]

Hawks–Wings Game 2 Preview
Down 1-0 in the series, the Blackhawks will try again to steal home ice from Detroit in the Western Conference Finals tonight. Holy Crap, It’s Detroit vs. Chicago
Well it’s really going to happen. The team I’ve followed, written about, and cheered for (most of the time) this year against the team I’ve always loved and cheered for. Normally I would be upset about this match-up, but this is great for hockey and great for both teams.
Not only is it a throwback to [...]

Last night, Chicago lost on a brutal Brian Campbell turnover, but the Wings haven’t quite looked like themselves in the series. It’s never a great sign when Dan Cleary [...]
Injured thigh keeps Datsyuk out of practice
From NHL.com
Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk sat out the team’s practice Thursday at Joe Louis Arena, leaving his status for Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals against the Chicago Blackhawks in doubt.
Datsyuk was struck in the thigh by a shot in Tuesday’s 3-2 overtime victory in Game 2.
Jiri Hudler skated Thursday in Datsyuk’s place [...]
Timbits
There's really nothing going on right now. Given the way Michigan's summers normally go, I suppose that's a good thing, but it's definitely slow around these parts. A few timbits (because I miss Tim Horton's):-2010 verbal Derek Deblois had his USHL rights traded from Tri-City to Cedar Rapids. If he ends up playing for them, that could be a potential road trip...
