Vancouver Canucks center Ryan Johnson was carried off the ice on a stretcher after sliding headfirst into the end boards early in the second period of Tuesday night's game against the Detroit Red Wings.
Johnson was taken to a nearby hospital for further observation, though a team spokesperson said he was alert and had full movement.

Mikael Samuelsson was signed in Vancouver for several reasons but none more important than what he could bring to his new team and organization that he gained from his time in Detroit.
