Conks. The Conk-eror. The Conk-Blocker. Just a few of the names attributed to Ty Conklin. Over the past couple of weeks, he has earned the gratitude of Pittsburgh fans by posting a 7-0 record (2 shutouts), a 0.939 save percentage, and a 2.0 Goals Against Average (GAA). His remarkable play has displaced backup tender Dany Sabourin and eased the fears of Pittsburgh fans who watched in horror as Marc-Andre Fleury departed the lineup in early December for 6-8 weeks with an ankle injury. It is time to take a look at 3rd string goaltender Ty Conklin who has risen up out of the ashes of relative anonymity to become one of the key elements in the turnaround of the Pittsburgh Penguins season. High School Report on Crosby and Today's NHL

The National Hockey League, one of the most prestigious and oldest sports' leagues in the world, has encountered recent struggles in its homeland of America. After a lockout, or stoppage of play, three years ago, the league has tried desperately to re-establish its identity in the U.S. Their best hope came when the lockout ended, in 2005, in the form of the 18 year-old hockey...

"Rocky" Malone broke Bell's orbital bone in Thursday's fight

I gotta give Ryan Malone some credit. Up until his last couple of fights, I would immediately be convinced that he would get his ass whooped as soon as the fight started.

Penguins battle back for 5-4 win in Montreal

Let me state for the record that I still hate the decision to start Dany Sabourin in goal tonight for the Penguins. I don't care if the guy grew up in downtown Montreal (which he didn't), and played well the last time in Habs-land. Ty Conklin is the #1 goalie as of right now, the Pens had a day off before the game and another day off after the game, he should have been in goal tonight.

Ty Conklin Still Undefeated as Pens Shutout Panthers 3-0

The Pittsburgh Penguins, riding on the red hot glove of 3rd-string goaltender Ty Conklin, shutout the Florida Panthers 3-0 on Saturday afternoon and extended the Penguins winning streak to 6 games. Conklin (7-0) maintained his perfect record this season by stopping 35-shots and picking up his 2nd shutout in 4-games. In his last 6-starts, Conklin has only let in 8-goals. His save...

Penguins Fall to Thrashers 4-1

The Pittsburgh Penguins lost to the Atlanta Thrashers 4-1 on Wednesday, one night after beating the New Jersey Devils 4-2. The Penguins outshot the Atlanta Thrashers 30-27, but were only able to put 1 (legitemately) past Kari Lehtonen on a chip shot by Ryan Whitney midway through the 3rd period. Despite giving up 4-goals and being replaced by Dany Sabourin after letting in 2 early...
