TEAMS: Edmonton Oilers, New Jersey Devils, Colorado Avalanche, St. Louis Blues
When the Edmonton Oilers signed Andy Sutton this summer I had a fear of a day like this coming...a potential major suspension for the big man; Sutton is considered a repeat offender for head-shot incidents and has earned an in-person meeting with Brendan Shanahan for his latest hit on Gabriel Landeskog in Friday’s game against the Colorado Avalanche. The meeting is schedule to go Monday, meaning Sutton will also miss this evenings contest with the St. Louis Blues. Sounds like this could just be the start of bad things to come for Sutton, who until this incident actually played some decent hockey. The Denver Post's Adrian Dater thinks he'll get between five and eight games. But Dater adds, "A goon defenseman on his last legs could have ended the career of a bright young NHL star with that cheapie. ... I think he should get something like 20-25 games."
