Peoria, IL – Atte Engren turned aside 29 shots to lead the Milwaukee Admirals to a 3-2 win over the Rivermen in Peoria Saturday night.
Engren’s biggest save came in the final minutes of the game when he kicked his right pad to stop Peoria sniper Brett Sterling’s breakaway.
Milwaukee improved to 4-0 this season against the Rivermen and 3-0 at Carver Arena.
Milwaukee got on the board at 9:28 of the first period. Defenseman Teemu Laakso sent a pass from the right wing boards into the slot for Joel Champagne. Champagne tipped the puck to the left post where Mark Van Guilder buried it for his third goal of the season.
Peoria tied the game at 8:15 of the third period with a power play goal by Jonathan Cheechoo. Cheechoo picked up a turnover and fired a shot from the left circle for his seventh goal of the season.

After Nashville Predators forward Jordin Tootoo charged into Ryan Miller on Saturday night, Buffalo Sabres Head Coach Lindy Ruff opined after the game that he believed it was "open season" on goaltenders.

The Nashville Predators and the Phoenix Coyotes have met twice this year splitting the series. The first meeting was on Nashville ice where the Coyotes took the Predators to the woodshed in a 5-2 victory. Nashville exacted some revenge by beating the Coyotes in Glendale by a score of 3-0.
