The Milwaukee Admirals came into todays contest against the Charlotte Checkers on a 2 game losing streak. Apparently, all they needed was a little southern hospitality to get back in the win column. The Admirals picked up a couple goals off of Checkers turnovers, and won 5-2 at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte.  The Admirals got on the board early, as Patrick Cehlin collected his own rebound, and was able to elevate a shot over the glove of former Nashville Predator Dan Ellis to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. Charlotte helped the Admirals cause a couple of minutes later when defenseman Bobby Sanguinetti was attempting to leave a drop pass to his defensive partner, but instead it was a perfect pass to Admirals forward Michael Latta, who put a shot on net that was tipped by Gabriel Bourque past Ellis for a 2-0 lead. It was Latta's second assist of the night. Victor Bartley was in the holiday giving mood as well, as he was skating out of the defensive zone and dished a rink wide soft pass that was picked off by Michal Jordan (no, not the 6'6 guard from North Carolina) who beat Admirals goalie Magnus Hellberg with a wrist shot from inside the left point to cut the lead to one.  Milwaukee picked up 2 more goals in the second period to take a 4-1 lead. First it was Mark Van Guilder winning a race to a loose puck, skated around the net and got the puck to Ryan Ellis at the point who's shot on Ellis left a juicy rebounded that was put home by MVG for a 3-1 lead. The next goal involved a lot of wizardry from Cam Reid. Reid had a good scoring chance that was knocked away by the blocker of Ellis, he spun into the near corner and tossed a behind the back, no look pass to the crease where Austin Watson was flying to the crease and was in the right place at the right time to bang home his ninth of the year for a 4-1 lead at the end of two periods.  The two teams traded horrible turnovers that led to goals in the third period. The Admirals capitalized first when Michael Latta picked up a horrible breakout by the Checkers, muscled to the slot and got a shot off, and Bourque was there to pick up the rebound and his second goal of the game. Later in the period, Hellberg came way out of the net to play a puck (he was in Raleigh I believe) and passed it right to Checkers forward Brent Sutter who scored on the empty net to cap the scoring in a 5-2 loss. Hellberg once again got tons of offensive support, and now has a 4-0 record in the AHL this season after finishing with 26 saves on 28 shots.  The two teams will face off again on Tuesday night in Charlotte.
