Ryan Suter's agent says the Nashville Predators defenseman will be hitting the NHL's free agent market. Neil Sheehy told The Associated Press on Saturday that he doesn't know where Suter will sign, but added the player will keep the Predators ''in the mix.'' Free agency opens at noon Sunday with Suter heading a short list of marquee players expected to be available. Also potentially on that list is New Jersey Devils captain Zach Parise. Detroit, Tampa Bay, Anaheim and Edmonton are among the teams expected to have interest in the 27-year-old Suter. The seven-year NHL veteran with the hard-hitting style had a career-best 46 points (seven goals, 39 assists) last season.

So it all comes down to Suter

Dominoes have fallen over the last month, and the biggest domino remains: Ryan Suter. Let the waiting game begin.

Detroit Red Wings upgrade front lines

Will the Red Wings land defenseman Ryan Suter as an unrestricted free agent? Perhaps, but it appears the franchise will have to wait until Monday for that decision. In the meantime they altered their chemistry up front: They brought back old friend Mikael Samuelsson with a two-year, $6 million deal. He is classic Detroit player: Skilled and versatile. To add some sandpaper, the Red...

Suter, Parise sort through offers

Ryan Suter and Zach Parise chose to take time to sort through offers from a slew of suitors on the first day of NHL free agency. ''I don't expect a quick decision,'' Suter's agent, Neil Sheehy, wrote in an email Sunday to The Associated Press. Parise, meanwhile, said he thinks he'll make a decision by Monday after not signing a deal to stay with New...

Wild submit offers to Parise, Suter

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) The Minnesota Wild say they have submitted offers to free-agent stars Zach Parise and Ryan Suter. The Wild tweeted the news on Sunday, shortly after the free-agent market opened. General manager Chuck Fletcher and owner Craig Leipold have promised that the Wild planned to be aggressive this summer to try to get the team back to the playoffs after a four-year...

What If Nashville Signed Suter And Parise?

from Jeremy K Gover of Section 303, The prizes of this free agency class are defenseman Ryan Suter and forward Zach Parise. Some think it will take roughly $9 million to sign each player. Using that number, let’s take the best case scenario and say the Preds sign both (again, purely as an example). That’s a whopping $18 million tied up in just those two players. But guess who’s...

Destinations For Parise And Suter

from Pierre LeBrun of ESPN, The offers were numerous for Zach Parise and Ryan Suter on Sunday, so it should surprise no one that they needed at least a day to collect their thoughts. Parise got offers from the likes of Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Minnesota, Los Angeles, Carolina and Dallas among other teams, while keeping the dialogue open with New Jersey. By the end of...

Parise, put simply by TSN’s Bob McKenzie: Monday, just like Suter

Well here’s the news you were probably not waiting for, Wings fans. In addition to Ryan Suter not deciding until tomorrow, TSN’s Bob McKenzie reports that the Red Wings’ other main target will take his time, too: Zach Parise’s decision will not come until tomorrow. Has narrowed the field to a select group and will decide Monday.

Suter, Parise keep busy Wings waiting

It was not the major splash that Red Wings fans were hoping for, but with the signing of former Wings forward Mikael Samuelsson, former Nashville agitator Jordin Tootoo, Swiss scoring sensation Damien Brunner and former Maple Leafs goalie Jonas Gustavsson, Detroit was certainly active on Day 1 of free agency. Many players switched teams on Sunday, but the two top free-agent targets...

Zach Parise, Ryan Suter in No Rush As NHL Free Agency Gets Off to Underwhelming Start

In less than six hours after the opening of the free agency period on Sunday, 50 players around the NHL had landed new deals. Yet the first day of free agency still couldn't shake the feeling of being colossally underwhelming. There was activity, sure, but none of the marquee names are on the move, yet. That may be largely because there aren't many marquee names on the market...

Peter Chiarelli Expects Bruins to Be 'Quiet' in Free Agency This Summer

WILMINGTON, Mass. -- The annual free agent frenzy is set to open on Sunday, but don't expect the Bruins to get involved in the bidding. While other teams will line up for the chance to woo the likes of Zach Parise and Ryan Suter with huge contract offers on July 1, Boston general manager Peter Chiarelli doesn't anticipate the Bruins joining the fray. "My gut is telling...

Red Wings go into overdrive to recruit top targets, are willing to ‘fly all over the country’

Holy crap. I read it and I didn’t believe it, and now I’m gonna read it again, per MLive’s Ansar Khan: New Jersey forward Zach Parise and Nashville defenseman Ryan Suter are the top two free agents in a thin class. The Red Wings will make a big push for both. Owner Mike Ilitch and team advisor Chris Chelios were scheduled to fly to Madison, Wis., to meet with Suter at his...
