There’s never a dull moment when Alex Ovechkin is around.
Capitals rookie Connor Carrick scored his first NHL goal with his team down 3-0 to the Calgary Flames in the second period on Friday night. Carrick’s goal helped spark a comeback that included two goals from Ovechkin, a late game-tying goal from Nicklas Backstrom to send the game into overtime and a shootout win for Washington.
Carrick got to keep the puck from his goal, but he got another memento from his team captain.
As Carrick was being interviewed after the game, Ovechkin snuck up on the rookie and delivered an MLB-style shaving cream pie to the unsuspecting 19-year-old. Head coach Adam Oates might want to give Ovechkin some drills to practice, though — he laid the shaving cream surprise on the top of Carrick’s head. Just poor form.
