A scoring decline has left Alex Ovechkin looking rather unworthy of the 13-year, $124 million contract he signed in 2008. Perhaps we can blame the slump on his burgeoning rap career. Last September Ovechkin created a stir when it became known the Washington Capitals superstar would contribute a verse on Sasha Belyi’s rap song, Champion. (Those of you who get Russian MTV on cable might have even seen the feature they did on the song’s production.) Here’s the video [Ovechkin Rapping] I have seriously no problem with Alexander Ovechkin turning his life into a joke. The guy is unlikeable. We’ve seen this story before – Guy gets a little to big for his breeches, starts to entertain himself in other arenas, and then the next thing you know he’s forgotten. If this is quality rap in Russia – good heavens.
