Say what you want about Washington Capitals superstar Alexander Ovechkin, this video leaves little doubt that his reemergence into a dominant offensive force during the regular season apparently has him feeling fairly loosey-goosey heading into his team’s Game 1 showdown against the New York Rangers on Thursday night in the rivals’ Eastern Conference quarterfinals match-up. Uploaded to the interwebs on Wednesday via the iPhone of Ovie’s professional tennis-playing fiancée Maria Kirilenko is a video featuring Ovechkin and his buddies grooving to Drake’s “Started from the Bottom.” Via @mkirilenko: Clearly, Ovechkin doesn’t hate the Drake and this isn’t the first time the World of Ovie has intersected with the World of Hip Hop. A video surfaced back in 2011 of Ovechkin’s awkwardly entertaining cameo in a Russian rap group’s video. This new video of Ovie kicking it in a car only confirms that the 27-year-old Alexander Ovechkin is hip to what the kids are listening to these days. I mean, Drake is still cool, right? Sorry, I just don’t keep up on the hippety-hoppity and the rippity-rappity as I probably should.
