Alexei Kovalev was a member of both the Montreal Canadians and the New York Rangers during his long, 20-year NHL career. He played well for both teams, but nothing tops his Stanley Cup win with the New York Rangers in 1994. Kovalev, a 1991 draftee of the club, was part of the team that snapped the longest drought in NHL history at that time. While he would go on to personal success throughout the rest of his career, I would assume that it’d be difficult for him to reach the level of accomplishment that he did in 1994. Kovalev was at Game 6 tonight, in which the New York Rangers defeated the Montreal Canadiens 1-0 to move on to the Cup Final for the first time in 20 years.
