BOSTON — The Bruins won 14 games in the playoffs last spring, and after every one of those wins, the team-voted player of the game went to his postgame media availability wearing a U.S. Army Rangers jacket. The jacket, which was obtained by now ex-Bruin defenseman Andrew Ference, was a source of pride for whoever got to wear the jacket. It wasn’t necessarily because of the fact that the jacket represented the player of the game honor, but the B’s are a bunch that certainly don’t take for granted what the military does. That appreciation will be on display Monday afternoon at TD Garden during the team’s annual military appreciation day, which fittingly takes place on Veterans Day this year. Not only will the Bruins take the ice for pregame warmups with camouflaged jerseys, a group of players also bought tickets so that military members and their families could enjoy Monday’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Matt Bartkowski, Johnny Boychuk, David Krejci, Torey Krug and Dennis Sei...

Boston Bruins answer some questions in win against Toronto

It is not how you start, but how you finish.  The old adage, often used in sports, has been proven reliable on many occasions.  The Boston Bruins (10-5-1) have been an example of just how true the saying can be. They proved it in the Stanley Cup Finals of course, leading the entire way in what turned out to be a deciding game six, before blowing a one goal lead with just minutes...

Zdeno Chara Mic’d Up, Calls Out Slashing Penguins in Latest ‘Behind the B’ (Full Episode)

Opposing teams know by now that poking the bear is a big no-no. Opponents are getting awfully close to seeing what happens when they slash the (big) bear, too. Zdeno Chara was mic’d up against the Penguins for the latest episode of Behind the B on NESN. Chara is a very vocal captain and that doesn’t mean he’s only barking orders to his teammates, as he clearly isn’t afraid...

Bruins Honor Veterans, Family From Lee Brice’s ‘I Drive Your Truck’ in Pregame Tribute at TD Garden (Video)

The Bruins are no stranger to honoring the real heroes of America. The team that gave its top player an Army Ranger jacket throughout last year’s playoff run was part of a special tribute before Monday afternoon’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The B’s had a hat tip to all veterans, but they saved a special moment for Paul Monti, the father of Jared Monti, who received...

Claude Julien ‘Fairly Pleased’ After Win Over Toronto, Still Looking for More Consistency Out of His Team (Video)

The Bruins struggle to sustain consistency continues, but the team made some good strides toward the full 60-minute effort in Saturday’s win over the Leafs. With a strong first period, Claude Julien said his team looked like who they wanted to be, but they stumbled in the second, struggling to get anything going in their own end. The B’s came out grinding in the final period...

Military Service of Milt Schmidt, Bruins Teammates in World War II Remembered on Veterans Day (Video)

More than 70 years ago, dozens of North American professional athletes made a sacrifice most sports stars today could not even fathom.
