Found November 17, 2011 on Kukla's Korner:
I thought it would be a good idea to write an article in an accessible (as non-mathematical as possible) style to discuss Corsi analysis and some of issues discussed on the internet regarding it. Buffalo Sabres assistant coach Jim Corsi wanted to better understand how busy goalies had been so instead of counting only shots against, began counting blocked and missed shots as well.  After a while it was realized that this could be a basis of individual player assessment.  It was found that the differential of Corsi events (the difference in the number of shots attempted for and against) correlates extremely strongly with which team possesses the puck and also with which zone the puck is in.  A team with a high Corsi possesses the puck the majority of the game and keeps the puck in their opponent’s zone.  These are good things that are valuable to playing winning hockey and this is the best (known?) statistical measure from the information the NHL routinely publishes online. Meet Ryan Miller's wife, Noureen DeWulf

He stands 6'2", 175 pounds according to the Buffalo Sabres website (they must be including his pads and wallet). He's the most talented American-born goaltender out there. Coyotes hope to end streak against Sabres

For the second straight season, no team in the NHL will play more back-to-back games than the Buffalo Sabres. It's a challenge the club has come to welcome. Looking to sweep their latest back-to-back set, the Sabres try for a sixth consecutive victory over the visiting Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday night. Jason Pominville scored a first-period goal and Jhonas Enroth made it stand...

Sabres, Enroth No Match For Brodeur

Recap: Martin brodeur reminded everyone in Buffalo why he'll be a first-ballot Hall of Famer following his retirement. Throughout his storied career, Brodeur has certainly had the Sabres' number. That trend continued Wednesday, as the Sabres fell to the New Jersey Devils 5-3 in front of a sold out First Niagara Center. The Sabres' offense played well, managing...

The first time Lindy Ruff declared open season on goalies

We're probably beating a dead horse here but, just to prove how hypocritical Lindy Ruff is: Here's video from 2007, when his Buffalo Sabres and the Ottawa Senators line brawled, including Andrew Peters taking on Ray Emery. Emery doesn't even care if he wins these fights or not; he's just having a blast out there. Emery's awesome.Ruff's comments after that...

The craziness of the Sabres season

Can anyone recall a crazier start to a season for the Sabres? In just one month, I feel like we've lived through a season's worth of controversies/stories. I guess the more money Pegula brought about, the more problems we see. Alright, not really. I just wanted to use a Biggie song in this post and there you have it. I'm sure talk show hosts and sports editors...

Why Jhonas Enroth Won’t Win the Calder

By Alexander Monaghan President Jhonas Enroth backstopped the Buffalo Sabres to yet another win tonight, shutting out the below-average Carolina Hurricanes offense. The rookie has now won seven of his 10 appearances, improving his already stellar 2.19 GAA and .926 SV% to 1.94 GAA and .935 SV%. Without those wins the Sabres most certainly would not be sitting atop the Northeast Division...
