The Anaheim Ducks have put themselves in a rather unusual predicament by both winning and losing. Before I confuse you too much, please allow me to explain.
The Ducks have a dozen games left to try to do the improbable and nearly downright impossible. On the heels of a three-game losing streak, the Ducks must now win out. That’s right; 12 in a row to even have a sniff at a glimmer of hope to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Just how dire is the situation for Anaheim? With just 69 points, 12 consecutive wins would give them 93 points on the dot and the same number of points the 2010-2011 New York Rangers had when they grabbed the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Even 93 points may not be enough; the Chicago Blackhawks needed 97 to qualify in the West. But it’s the only hope Anaheim has. 11 of the 12 remaining games are against Western Conference teams, including five against teams directly ahead of them in the standings....
