Coach Bruce Boudreau can't imagine an NHL team more eager to get back to work than the Anaheim Ducks. Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf are playing for new contracts. Teemu Selanne knows he's running out of time at 42. And Boudreau simply detests sitting still, making the lockout particularly painful. The Ducks all hope to rebound from last season's awful start, which kept them out of the playoffs for the second time in three years despite a big second-half surge when Boudreau took over. Getzlaf knows his team can't afford another slow start in a shortened season. Yet if the Ducks play in their usual January form, their veteran-led roster could emerge as a playoff threat in the West. Selanne is back for his 20th NHL season, still going strong.

Ducks Make Training Camp Cuts

In an abbreviated training camp, there is no time to dawdle and wait and see.  The Ducks have been making minor tweaks here and there, but the first cuts came on Wednesday. After sending goaltender Viktor Fasth to Norfolk for conditioning and game action, the Ducks have brought up Fredrik Andersen.   Andersen may very well be the guy on the bench to back up Jonas Hiller when...

Finally! It's Hockey Day!

The last time "the first day of hockey season" was uttered on a January day, the year was 1995.  Eighteen years and a couple lockouts later, it is being uttered again.  Hockey, even in an abbreviated form, is still sweet.   Thirteen games will be played today, with only four teams having to wait for their official start to the seasonette.  The Los Angeles Kings...

Site News: Keeping Tabs On Getzlaf's '12-'13 Season. #HockeyIsBack

I use the term "2012-2013 Season" lightly considering THE LOCKOUT and all. Anyhoo, I've decided it would be a fun exercise to keep light tabs on my main man Ryan Getzlaf. At the top of the right sidebar - above a link to my Twitter where you can follow my witty repartee - is where you will find a running total of Getz's Games, Assists, Goals, and Points for this...
