Don Waddell was quoted as saying, "Our best players are our young players. We have to make sure we have somebody who can not only win games but help these players continue to become the best hockey players they can." If that's the case, it would be an injustice if John Anderson weren't hired as their next head coach. Having won four league championships in the last eight years between the IHL and AHL with the Chicago Wolves, Atlanta's AHL affiliate, Anderson has proven he can win consistently with young talent. Look no further than this year's NHL final for proof between Mike Babcock and Michel Therien that good coaches pay their dues in the minor leagues. For that matter, take a look at tomorrow's NHL awards show when they announce the Jack Adams Award, as Mike Babcock and Bruce Boudreau have made it so there's a 66% chance the winner will have minor league background. What's more, because the Wolves are Atlanta's AHL affiliate, Anderson is already familiar with several of Atlanta's young players, especially Jason Krog, last season's AHL MVP who looks to be making his way to an NHL roster soon. What I'm getting at is this move makes too much sense not to happen.
