The Bruins dominated in nearly every category on Wednesday night in Game 1 of the playoffs against the Maple Leafs. The only bad news for the B’s came after the game, when defenseman Andrew Ference was suspended for one game for throwing an elbow at the face of Toronto’s Mikhail Grabovski. Ference will sit out of Game 2 against the Maple Leafs on Saturday night to fulfill his punishment from the NHL, and the defenseman’s only opinion on the matter is that he is already looking forward to Game 3. Hear what Ference had to say in the video above.

Marathon hero serves as honorary Bruins captain

There was a very special and emotional moment before Game 2 of the Bruins-Maple Leafs series on Saturday night when the Bruins called on Boston Marathon bombing victim Jeff Bauman to be the honorary banner captain at the TD Garden. Bauman, who lost both legs while waiting for his girlfriend to cross the race’s finish line and later helped to identify both bombing suspects, waved...

Andrew Ference’s Suspension Opens Debate Whether Dougie Hamilton, Aaron Johnson Is Better Replacement (Video)

While Andrew Ference is serving out his one-game suspension, the Bruins have a difficult decision to make. Do they turn to rookie Dougie Hamilton or Aaron Johnson to fill Ference’s role. Both players have their pluses and minuses. Hamilton may be the better player, but including him in the Bruins’ lineup would split up Dennis Seidenberg and Zdeno Chara. Johnson hasn’t played...

Bruins D Ference suspended 1 game

Boston Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference was suspended for one game by the NHL on Thursday for an illegal check to Toronto forward Mikhail Grabovski's head during Game 1 of their first-round series. No penalty was called on the hit midway through the first period in the Bruins' 4-1 victory. Game 2 is Saturday night in Boston.

Bruins, Maple Leafs Both Expected to Make Adjustments in Preparation for Game 2 (Video)

After dominating the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 1, logic might say that the Bruins should simply try to duplicate that performance, but it may not be so easy. With Andrew Ference suspended for one game, Boston will need to make some lineup adjustments. That likely means defenseman Dougie Hamilton will get the first playoff action of his young career. Hamilton has been a healthy...

Boston Marathon hero Jeff Bauman honored by Bruins

The Boston Bruins brought double-amputee Jeff Bauman onto the ice to wave a 'Boston Strong' flag before their playoff showdown against Toronto.

Report: Dion Phaneuf Will Not Receive Hearing With NHL After Hit on Daniel Paille (Video)

In Saturday night’s Maple Leafs-Bruins matchup, there was a questionable hit midway through the third period that bloodied Daniel Paille‘s nose. Paille was playing the puck along the boards when Toronto’s Dion Phaneuf delivered a high hit to the Bruins forward. There will be no hearing from the league on the hit, according to Renaud Lavoie of RDS. When replayed in slow motion...

James van Riemsdyk scores filthy goal to clinch win over Boston Bruins

With three minutes left in the third period, the Toronto Maple Leafs lead had dwindled to just one goal.  Maple Leafs forward Mikhail Grabovski set up James van Riemsdyk all alone in front of the net, but JVR didn’t have much room to make a play.  Which worked out just fine because it turns out he didn’t need much.  With his back facing the net, JVR pulled the puck around...

Maple Leafs Come Out Firing Against Bruins, Putting Pressure on Boston’s New Defensive Pairings (Video)

Here come the Maple Leafs. The Bruins defense was able to withstand a furious attack through the first 20 minutes of Saturday night’s Game 2, but the Leafs seem intent on keeping that pressure up all game long. Phil Kessel even threatened to score, which shows the kind of confidence that Toronto is playing with. NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette has a theory as to why the Leafs are...

Leafs beat Bruins 4-2, even up series #ThankYouKessel

After their game one loss to the Bruins, the Leafs knew they had to significantly improve their game if they wanted a chance at advancing to the second round. They did just that. Reimer made 41 saves, Lupul had two goals, Kessel got the monkey off his back in the game winner, and JVR got the insurance marker as the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Boston Bruins 4-2 to even up the...

NHL Leaving Itself Open to Conspiracy Theorists With Selective Enforcement of Discipline in Playoffs (Video)

Andrew Ference was suspended for Game 2 of the Bruins-Maple Leafs playoff series for a check to the head of Mikhail Grabovski. Add that to the lack of discipline for anyone involved the Senators-Canadiens brawl on Sunday night...

Dion Phaneuf’s High Hit On Daniel Paille

Obviously, we have heard of no hearing or potential suspension up-coming for Toronto defenseman Dion Phaneuf’s high, questionable hit on Boston forward Daniel Paille during Game 2 Saturday night in Boston. The Bruins have to pick their spots against Phaneuf, because he really isn't known for dropping the gloves either, he likes to hide behind his half shield and the Bruins...
