Andrew Shaw learned on Tuesday what's not acceptable when it comes to hitting goaltenders. The Blackhawks forward was suspended three games for charging Coyotes goalie Mike Smith during the teams' Game 2 clash on Saturday. Shaw was assessed a major penalty for charging and received a game misconduct following the second-period hit. League disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan decided that wasn't enough, though, and issued the supplemental discipline. Check out the video below to hear Shanahan's assessment of the hit and the subsequent suspension.

So the decision on Andrew Shaw's supplemental discipline for a collision with Phoenix goalie Mike Smith has been delayed until this morning, and Smith missed practice yesterday, perhaps with some lingering effects from the hit.

CHICAGO In three games of the Coyotes-Blackhawks first-round playoff series, weve had three overtimes, two-game tying goals in the final minute of play, 14 different goal scorers and 124 saves from Phoenix goalie Mike Smith on 132 shots.
