Found March 01, 2013 on Throw The Flag:
Dan Potash was on the Penguin’s bench reporting for Root Sports when Joe Vitale intentionally sprayed him with ice and gave him a snow dusting while on camera. Potash took the snow shower in stride when the Tampa Bay Lightning took on the Pittsburgh Penguins. This isn’t the first time Potash has been blasted by Vitale. It seems they have a running gag between the two. It also happened in a game between Pittsburgh and Carolina. We’ll see if Potash stays a little further away from the ice while on camera. HT @P_Abdo

Evgeni Malkin Trick Shot to end practice

Pittsburgh Penguins star Evgeni Malkin was recently placed on the Injured Reserve after sustaining a concussion from a hit by Erik Gudbranson.  Malkin has been cleared to practice but not for contact and had some fun at the end of a recent practice.  Malkin flipped a puck straight up in the air from center ice and it landed directly in the puck bucket.  To put the puck into a...

How Sidney Crosby turned Pittsburgh into Hockeytown

From the Toronto Globe and Mail's James Mirtle: They call them Sidney Crosby’s Little Penguins. One thousand kids, aged 4 to 8, who every year for the past four years have received full hockey equipment paid for by the Pittsburgh Penguins, their 25-year-old captain and several sponsors. The numbers may sound like a drop in the bucket in Canada, where one in 10...

I NOW Consider Evgeni Malkin A Hall Of Famer

One question I have spent a lot of time thinking about is at what point in their career a player first establishes himself as a Hall of Famer regardless of what may happen in the rest of their career.  This selection made the threshold about a month ago and I have yet to write the post.  I believe Evgeni Malkin has now cemented himself as a future Hall of Famer. The final step...

VIDEO: Unreal trick shot from Evgeni Malkin captured

John Buccigross tweeted this out. According to the guy who posted it, he stopped by the rink and filmed this today? It is ****** video, but Malkin puts a puck in a bag sitting upright from way past mid-ice. Also, he did this with a concussion.

A quick update on Staal Vs. Sutter

As the Penguins get set to face the Carolina Hurricanes tonight for the first time since the trade last Summer that sent Jordan Staal to Carolina and returned to the Penguins Brandon Sutter and Brian Dumoulin and the draft pick that allowed them to select Derek Pouliot. Let’s take a quick look at how both sides have fared in this trade so far: Carolina has played 18 games, has...

Game 19 Preview: Penguins at Hurricanes

Pittsburgh Penguins at Carolina Hurricanes 7 p.m., PNC Arena TV: NHL-Network, FS-Carolinas, Root Sports Much like Tuesday night's game against the Washington Capitals, tonight's showdown with the Pittsburgh Penguins has a bit of hype added to it. Game 19 Inside the Numbers: Penguins at Hurricanes

Last night's 4-1 win over the Penguins is one of those games that fans won't want to nit-pick at because it was such a strong performance by the entire team. The top two lines played great, Cam ward played great, the PK was the strongest it's been all season and the Canes did an excellent job of containing the Penguins at even strength. That all led to an impressive win...

RECAP: February of the Penguins. PENS LOSE.

Jordan Staal and the Hurricanes knew who was coming over and had the tea ready. It wasn't a good time. The Penguins aren't a bad team. They just aren't very good right now. In what was somewhat of a big game, the Pens let the Canes score two crushing goals at the end of the first and second periods. There's not much that can be done at this point. Getting...
