Found March 03, 2013 on Kukla's Korner:
from TSN, Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Mike Komisarek addressed a report out of St. Louis this weekend that suggested that he would welcome a trade out of Toronto. Andy Strickland, a St. Louis-based reporter, tweeted on Saturday, "Mike Komisarek gave #Leafs a list of 12 teams he'd accept a trade to but I'm told he'd pretty much accept a trade anywhere. Wants to play." Komisarek, who has been a healthy scratch for the past 14 games, discussed the report with the media on Sunday. "I'm not going to be commenting on what someone in St. Louis said so I don't even know the guy or why he said that," said Komisarek. "So I know the media types will like to say, 'A report, an anonymous report,' I'm curious to see where you guys get your stuff. That's all I can say at this time." continued

The Hockey News Yearbook Cover Curse (Toronto Maple Leafs)

Since the 2007-08 NHL season, buying The Hockey News Yearbook has become a ritual for me. Whether I end up reading it or not, I have to buy one. I've noticed though, that every year, in the Toronto version of the cover, THN's selection of the cover athlete ends up being somewhat a bust during the same season... Take a look for yourself...The Hockey News' 2007-08 NHL Yearbook...

Richard Cloutier: Is Mike Brown New Coke or Coke Classic?

I'm still attempting to recover from the announcement this morning that the Oilers dealt a 4th (or perhaps a 3rd round pick instead) to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Mike Brown. It's not that Brown's a bad chap. He plays hard every game; he hits and he fights. He's a decent 4th line forward and he'll be popular with fans in Edmonton. The problem with the deal...

Leafs trade Mike Brown to Oilers for draft pick

The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded forward Mike Brown to the Edmonton Oilers for a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2014 draft. Brown played in 12 games for the Maple Leafs this season. He had one assist and ranked third in the NHL with 70 penalty minutes. Brown missed eight games earlier this season with an upper-body injury. Maple Leafs general manager Dave Nonis said the...

Julie Robenhymer: Time For Toronto to Sieze the Opportunity

Four games on the schedule tonight - NJD at TOR; TBL at PIT; ANA at PHX and NSH at LAK. For me the games to watch are in Toronto and Los Angeles. This is a huge week for the Maple Leafs as they face New Jersey, Ottawa, Boston and Pittsburgh. Not only do they have the opportunity to create some separation between them and the best-of-the-rest and continue to solidify themselves...

Maple Leafs 4, Devils 2

Nazem Kadri continued his points streak Monday with a goal and an assist in the Toronto Maple Leafs' 4-2 victory over the struggling New Jersey Devils. Clarke MacArthur, Jay McClement and Phil Kessel - with his first goal on home ice this season - scored in the third period for Toronto. Kadri connected in the first period and assisted on MacArthur's goal to earn points in...

Top +/- Rating

One of the big surprises this season is that Mark Fraser of the Toronto Maple Leafs leads the NHL in +/- rating with a +15 rating.  It's a bit of a surprise that Fraser is not in the AHL and has a regular NHL job.  He is a defenceman who played only four games outside the AHL last season.  In fact before this year, Fraser had 98 NHL games played over the course of four seasons...

Mike Augello: Four Fearsome Foes

The Toronto Maple Leafs will need to take advantage of a March schedule littered with home games to stay in the running for a playoff spot. Their task will be a difficult, as this week they face a harrowing schedule with four teams currently residing the top eight of the Eastern Conference. On Monday, the New Jersey Devils visit the Air Canada Center trailing Toronto in the...

Maple Leafs trade Mike Brown to the Edmonton Oilers

Toronto Maple Leafs winger Mike Brown has been traded to the Edmonton Oilers for a fourth-round pick. The Edmonton Oilers just got a hell of a lot harder to play against.  The acquisition of Mike Brown was a really smart decision for the Edmonton Oilers, by all accounts, Brown is a character guy that plays with a chip on his shoulder every shift. Brown, 27, played in 12 games for...

Devils-Maple Leafs Preview

The Toronto Maple Leafs had the weekend to rest after an overtime victory that featured a breakout performance by one of their young stars. The oldest member of the New Jersey Devils remains out, and they still haven't won since his injury. The Devils look to avoid their first five-game losing streak in more than two years when they visit Toronto on Monday night. This is the...

Mike Augello: Idle Komisarek Requests Trade

The Maple Leafs are enjoying a much needed three day respite from game action before embarking on a daunting schedule of 26 games in 54 days, but one of the few players who does not need any rest has grown tired of waiting to get back into the lineup. TSN's Darren Dreger reported on Wednesday that veteran defenseman Mike Komisarek, who has not seen action since a 1-0 loss...

Mike Augello: Third Period Rally Gives Leafs Victory Over Devils

The Toronto Maple Leafs rallied after playing uninspiring for the first forty minutes with three third period goals to defeat the New Jersey Devils 4-2 at the Air Canada Center. Nazem Kadri, Jay McClement, Clarke MacArthur and Phil Kessel scored for Toronto, who improve to 14-9-0 with the victory and tie the Ottawa Senators for fifth place in the Eastern Conference with 28 points...
