Chris Thorburn has now signed a 3 yr contract extension with the Atlanta Thrashers. Over the last two years, Chris has continually increased his ability to be depended on in more roles. Now, not only being utilized as an enforcer, he has been an all around team player, getting the puck where it needs to be, taking away the possessions, clearing the puck and there have even been the times when he seemed to be one of the only defenders on the ice.

To say that this was a smart move with a serious investment for the future of the Atlanta Thrashers is an understatement. With all of the new faces arriving daily, Chris Thorburn is a solid piece of Atlanta to keep in Atlanta.

Thorburn’s words, “It gives me a little bit of security. I love the organization. I’ve been here for four years and am planting some roots. I want to be part of the rebuilding and putting a solid team in Atlanta” from Chris’ Vivlamore’s update is again, a necessary feeling we need spread and noticed within the organization to bring things together again.

On another note, Tim Stapleton has now been placed on waivers. Tim Stapleton has been actively playing in place of various forward injuries over the last few weeks. No one has picked him up as of yet.
