PLAYERS: Wade Redden
TEAMS: New York Rangers
After being asked if there's any chance the Rangers use Wade Redden on the big club, Adam Proteau at The Hockey News gives this answer..."Even if Redden turned his game around, the Rangers' blueline is fairly stacked as it is. Are you going to play him as a fifth or sixth D-man at that cost? No, you are not. Redden has two seasons to go with a $6.5-million cap hit and, barring a miracle, he's not going to see NHL ice again until that contract expires."...i'm usually not a big Proteau fan, but he's 100% correct here. Why in the world would the Rangers add his $6.5 million to the cap, if he's going to be nothing more than a 6th defenseman? And who does he replace? Stralman? No thanks....unless the Rangers plan on using him in the event they don't re-sign Del Zotto. I kid, I kid....Redden has actually proved his worth down in Hartford as he has been given credit for helping develop a number of the Rangers young defensemen including McDonagh, Del Zo...

Sather: Del Zotto Will "Come to His Senses"

This summer, one of the storylines was when RFA Michael Del Zotto would sign a new contract with the New York Rangers. As of September 9, it still hasn't happened. Del Zotto mentioned recently contract negotiations are "out of his hands."This morning, NYR beat writer Andrew Gross of the Bergen Record had this to say via Twitter after speaking to GM Glen Sather: ...

Rangers Concerned About Kreider's Skating & Play Without The Puck

John Buccigross at discusses the good and the bad of Chris Kreider..."Chris Kreider is still a work in progress for the Rangers. The upside is huge but the Rangers are still concerned about his skating and play without the puck in all three zones. It would be nice to chart his progress. He no doubt will be good, but the jury is out on whether he can be great. (I for...

Rangers’ Owner Wants His Team To Play Hockey

from Katie Strang of ESPN New York,   With less than a week remaining for the NHL and NHLPA to reach a deal on a new collective bargaining agreement, there has been little optimism that a lockout can be avoided. However, several people within the New York Rangers organization expressed hope that an agreement can be reached in order for the puck to drop on time next month...

Rangers’ Del Zotto Must Continue to Improve

When you are in the National Hockey League, it is not enough to have just one good season.  This is the kind of attitude that New York Rangers' defenseman Michael Del Zotto must have when the puck drops on the upcoming season, whenever that may be. In fact, for Del Zotto, it is the only way that he will survive under team head coach John Tortorella. When the 22-year-old...

Stamkos: Lundqvist Hardest Goalie to Score On, Loves to Split Kings

Steven Stamkos recently spoke with Cabral 'Cabbie' Richards of TSN on a myraid of issues, including who is the most difficult goaltender to score on..."Probably, Henrik Lundqvist. The King. King Lundqvist. I was actually in Atlantic City, this is how cool the guy is, we were playing black jack and he split Kings on a six because he's the King. I think he got two...

News & Notes: Potential Full-Season Lockout, Shane Doan, McIlrath, Etc.

It is inevitable, at this point, that the 2012-13 NHL season will at the very least be temporarily locked out on September 15 (exactly a week from today) due to the inability of the NHL and the NHLPA to come up with a newly written collective bargaining agreement prior to the deadline previously set by team owners. But, as it's been made very clear, there are more than just...
