Los Angeles Kings coach Darryl Sutter wasn’t surprised when the Dallas Stars blitzed his team with four third-period goals Tuesday night.“Not really,” he told reporters after the game. “We turned the puck over pretty regularly tonight. I think eventually it got us.”The Stars victimized the Anze Kopitar again and again during the 5-1 loss. Here was Sutter’s takeaway from that: “(We must) get our top players to play better. Unfortunately some of them have not played very well against Dallas this year when you break it out.”Kopitar held his group accountable for the fiasco.“We didn’t really play our game in the first two, and then the third was just a terrible period for us,” he told reporters. “Our line can’t get scored on four times in one period. It definitely wasn’t a good period.“For sure, we’re going to talk about it and put it behind us after that. With the schedule that we have, we can’t really look back too much. But we can’t just forget about this period. We’ve got

Penner to rejoin Kings' lineup at Dallas

DALLAS -- Greetings from Dallas, where the Kings are to face the Stars on Tuesday night at American Airlines Center. The Kings are in a position to do themselves some good and also help the Ducks: A loss of any kind by Dallas on Tuesday would allow the Ducks to clinch a playoff berth. "Bittersweet," said Kings winger Dustin Penner, who played on the Ducks' 2007 Stanley...

Early returns solid on Stars rookie Chiasson

DALLAS -- Sure, his NHL resume is all of four games thick, but the early returns on Stars rookie forward Alex Chiasson are definitely encouraging to say the least. Through four games, the 22-year-old Chiasson has four points (3-1-4). After finding the back of the net in two of his first three NHL games on the road last week, a pair of contests at Anaheim and a Sunday matinee in...

Stars recall G Nilstorp after injury to Lehtonen

The Dallas Stars have recalled goaltender Cristopher Nilstorp from their American Hockey League affiliate a day after starter Kari Lehtonen left a game with a lower body injury. The move Wednesday means Nilstorp will back up Richard Bachman, who didn't allow a goal after replacing Lehtonen in Tuesday's 5-1 win over Los Angeles. Lehtonen, who missed five games earlier in...

Avalanche-Kings Preview

The Los Angeles Kings haven't lost three straight since their 0-2-1 start, but coach Darryl Sutter doesn't seem overly concerned. His Kings ended a five-game losing streak to the NHL-worst Colorado Avalanche the last time these teams met heading into Thursday night's meeting at Staples Center. Los Angeles (22-14-4) fell 4-3 in a shootout at Anaheim on Sunday and 5-1...

Stars-Predators Preview

It doesn't appear anyone informed the Dallas Stars that their playoff chances were all but gone after trading away multiple key contributors prior to the deadline. The struggling Nashville Predators, meanwhile, aren't feeling too good about their postseason fate. Dallas continues its unlikely playoff push while seeking a fourth straight victory Friday night against host...
