Cory Schneider and the Vancouver Canucks continued their dominance of the last-place Colorado Avalanche earlier this week. Doing it again will send the Avalanche to their longest road losing streak in 23 years. Schneider is scheduled to be back in net as the Canucks try to beat the Avalanche for a 10th straight meeting Thursday night at Rogers Arena. Schneider had 26 saves in Vancouver's 3-2 win at Colorado on Sunday. He followed that up two days later with 17 stops before making three more in the shootout of a 1-0 victory over Columbus, extending the Canucks' winning streak to five games after a 3-6-2 stretch. "If we play like that we're going to win the majority of our games," Schneider said. "It all goes back to playing as a group. It's not just one guy, it's everyone chipping in, working hard and making things readable and easier for me to react to. It's been a great turnaround for our group, just to tighten things up and to play smart ...

Canucks slip past Blue Jackets in shootout, 1-0

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -- When the Vancouver Canucks and Columbus Blue Jackets have played each other this season, the goals have been few and far between. Cory Schneider made 17 saves and Max Lapierre scored the shootout-winning goal and the Canucks beat the Blue Jackets 1-0 on Tuesday for their fifth straight victory. The past two meetings between the clubs -- both played...

Leafs/Canucks Talking Luongo Again

from Damien Cox of the Toronto Star, As has been the case for 11 months, ever since it became clear the Vancouver Canucks intended to hand the No. 1 goaltending job to Cory Schneider, it’s clear all roads for Luongo’s exodus out of British Columbia logically lead to Toronto. Which is probably why talks between the Canucks and Maple Leafs quietly resumed this week...

Colorado Avalanche announcer calls Peter McNab “Penis”

After the Calgary Flames-Colorado Avalanche game last night Avalanche announcer Kyle Keef had a serious freudian slip on live tv.  When Keef went to discuss who they would be talking about/to after the Avs 4-3 loss he accidentally called Peter McNab “Penis.”  If this doesn’t make you laugh then I’m not sure what will.  The announcers couldn’t even keep it together during...

Luongo Talk

from Jason Botchford of the Vancouver Province, If a draft pick and a low-rent prospect is all the Canucks are going to be offered for Roberto Luongo, they are not likely trading him, meaning, of course, he will play again in a Canucks uniform. Or rot on the bench. Just days from the deadline, the Canucks seem to still believe they can get a player to help them immediately...

Canucks 4, Avalanche 1

Daniel Sedin scored the go-ahead goal in the third period and added an assist, Alex Burrows also had a goal and an assist and the Vancouver Canucks beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-1 on Thursday night. Sedin took a feed from Burrows at the top of the left circle and sent a low wrist shot through Semyon Varlamov's legs - with twin brother Henrik Sedin screening in front - at 11...

Report: Canucks, Maple Leafs Resume Roberto Luongo Trade Talks

Who knows for sure whether or not Roberto Luongo finally ends up in Toronto, but it appears the rumors won’t go away until he’s shipped to the Maple Leafs or lands elsewhere. The Toronto Star reports that the Maple Leafs and Canucks recently resumed trade discussions about the veteran goaltender. Trade talks reportedly been ongoing for quite some time, and while they may have...

Canucks-Oilers Preview

The Vancouver Canucks have been getting outstanding goaltending from Cory Schneider during their winning streak. If the top line of Henrik and Daniel Sedin and Alex Burrows can pick up the pace, there's no telling how much further they can extend their run. Vancouver goes for a seventh consecutive victory Saturday night when they visit an Edmonton Oilers team trying to go unbeaten...

Greetings Ottawa, Meet Troy Rutkowski

The Senators signed the Portland Winterhawks’ Captain to a three year entry level last week, just as the WHL playoffs were getting underway. We thought it would never happen after the Colorado Avalanche took a pass on signing him. Of course, we probably should have known it might take a while. Nothing about Troy’s path to the NHL was easy, but that’s what makes his story so...

The Trade Talk Continues

from Pierre LeBrun of ESPN, - All these months later and Roberto Luongo is still a Vancouver Canuck. Teams have been asking about him when calling Vancouver over the last little while -- perhaps just as much out of curiosity -- but teams are also asking about Cory Schneider. It’s highly unlikely the Canucks move Schneider, even though the offers would be more substantive...
