Colorado Avalanche right wing Chuck Kobasaw was fined $2,500 by the NHL on Monday for his trip on Vancouver Canucks defenseman Dan Hamhuis.
Kobasaw was assessed a minor penalty for the incident during the second period of Saturday afternoon's game.
The 29-year-old Kobasaw has collected seven goals, five assists and 33 penalty minutes this season.
After a day off yesterday, in which the Avalanche players got to enjoy the Super Bowl like the rest of us (unless you're a Patriots fan), they took to the ice for practice today with a slightly new-look roster. Stefan Elliott is gone and in his place is Tyson Barrie, the 20-year-old defenseman who was enjoying a very successful season in Lake Erie before his call-up to Colorado...
No Avalanche skate today. The club will resume practice Monday, when rookie defenseman Tyson Barrie will begin formal preparations for Tuesday’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks at the Pepsi Center. Coach Joe Sacco said he’s just looking for a “spark” from Barrie, presumably with the offensive part of the game and/or on the power play.
Barrie didn’t seem too...

Avalanche winger David Jones knows his name is likely to come up in trade rumors between now and the NHL's Feb. 27 trade deadline.
With a flick of the wrist, Gabriel Landeskog helped snap Colorado's season-long five-game skid while extending Chicago's misery on the road. The rookie forward broke a tie 38 seconds into the third period and David Jones added two goals, lifting the Avalanche to a 5-2 win over the struggling Blackhawks on Tuesday night.
Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker feels the club missed the ‘inspiration’ of Harry Redknapp in their 0-0 draw with Liverpool at...
