CALGARY — The Avalanche is practicing right now at the Saddledome and defenseman Ryan Wilson and center Paul Stastny aren’t participating. Stastny skated with the team before Tuesday’s 6-0 loss at Vancouver but missed his first game of the season with the torso injury he sustained in Sunday’s 4-2 win over Detroit. Wilson suffered a head injury during his first shift in the Vancouver game but was reportedly feeling better after the game and this morning.
We’ll have an update from coach Joe Sacco after practice. Meanwhile, today’s lines have changed, with David Jones moving to the fourth line with Kevin Porter and Cody McLeod, and Brandon Yip being promoted to the Matt Duchene-centered line.

VANCOUVER — Avalanche center Paul Stastny practiced this morning but will miss his first game of the season tonight when Colorado plays the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena.
At first, I was going to write a rip job tonight, starting with the Avs’ choice to play 5-11 defenseman Matt Hunwick as a forward in tonight’s 3-2 loss to the Calgary Flames, otherwise known as The Team The Avalanche Will Never Beat Again. Then I took a look at the stat sheet of Hunwick – 4:53 played, no shots, no points, no hits, one missed shot – and...
